William F. Ritschel Memorial

Ongoing Exhibition

William F. Ritschel (1864-1949) was a German-born painter who lived and worked in Carmel from 1911 until his death in 1949. A free-spirited bohemian, Ritschel was an important part of the California Impressionist movement. Most of the paintings, watercolors and ephemera on display here were gifts of the Ritschel Trust to the Museum as a permanent memorial to the artist.
