The youngest of the Bruton sisters, Helen attended U.C. Berkeley where she majored in art. Intending to be a sculptor, she turned instead to woodblock printing and engraving. After WWI she joined Margaret and Esther in NYC and then Paris, finally settling in the Bruton family home in Monterey in 1924. During the 1930-€™s she and her sister Margaret worked for the WPA, producing mosaic murals for several locations in the SF area.
