© David Ligare
As in his Magna Fide painting, here again David Ligare has used Latin words to elevate and further perplex (or inspire?) the viewer. The delicate palm frond as well as the somewhat wrinkled piece of paper seem to exist in contrast to the written words. Ligare uses light and shadow to give volume to these somewhat flat shapes and pop them dramatically forward from a darkened background. To experience Ligare's work is to reconsider our own perceptions.
