This view of Monterey as seen from Presidio hill, shows what the city looked like in the early years of the century, with the wharf in the middle ground and the green roof of the Hotel Del Monte bathhouse in the distance. Although lacking the vitality of the many depictions of the same perspective painted by E. Charlton Fortune, McCormick's piece has a quiet quotidian quality of a typical neighborhood scene.
