Painted seven years after Delphi IV, the subject of IDRHA is, again, a piece of white drapery. Both oil paintings are large in scale. Here, rather than resting casually on a tabletop, the drapery floats in the air - a moment of motion captured. The tilted horizon line adds to the energy of the scene, along with the breaking wave and the dynamic shadows. In an interview, Ligare once referred to finding the center or still point within the swirl of time and culture. Perhaps this is that still point.
