Artwork by William F. Ritschel (1864-1949) from the permanent collection. Ritschel emigrated to America from Germany at the age of thirty-one. In 1911 he settled in Carmel where, in 1918, he began construction of his strikingly unique stone house overlooking the Pacific, affectionately known to this day as the Ritschel Castle.
