Join art critic, curator, and author Shana Nys Dambrot for a tour of The Fire of Heaven: Enrique Martínez Celaya and Robinson Jeffers, focusing on two of the most prevalent visual themes that run throughout the exhibition and Martínez Celaya’s overall practice — birds and the sea. Dambrot will lead viewers through the exhibition, pausing to reflect on the symbolism and moods evoked across the many poetic instances of avian and oceanic imagery.

Based in Downtown LA, Shana Nys Dambrot is the Arts Editor for the L.A. Weekly and a regular contributor to several publications. Dambrot penned the original essay Enrique Martínez Celaya: A Universe of Concern for the upcoming exhibition catalog The Fire of Heaven: Enrique Martínez Celaya and Robinson Jeffers. She is dedicated to approaching arts writing as an empathetic critique grounded in art history and a boundless appreciation for the power of art in society.
