Summer Art Camps

This summer, Monterey Museum of Art is offering safe, creative experiences and tons of fun for children at the Museum on Pacific Street and our beautiful La Mirada location! Summer Camps are taught by professional educators, offering a wide range of skill-building and creative outlets for children ages five through thirteen.

Join MMA at the $150 Contributor Membership level to receive a 10% discount per class and MMA member benefits for one year.

Join us for an experience that’s out of this world! In this camp we’ll explore our galaxy, planet Earth, and how humans impact our world. Through painting, mixed-media sculpting, and upcycling we’ll discover all the creative ways artists can learn about the world around us and become environmental leaders for a better tomorrow!

Exciting Ecosystems

Learn all about local animals, plants, trees, and habitats found here in Monterey. Observe creatures in their natural settings, create artwork based on your findings, go on fun garden hikes, and journal your experiences. Can you tell the difference between a harbor seal, sea lion, and sea otter? What is the tallest type of tree in California? How can we continue to live in harmony with nature in today’s ever-changing world? Discover the answers to these questions and more at this adventure-filled camp!

Cartoon Camp

Do you have what it takes to enter our cartoon boot camp? If you love drawing, enjoy reading comics, or like learning how animated movies are made, then this camp is for you! Create your own characters, draft a comic strip, make a flipbook, and much more. The influence of different art styles and animation history are also briefly covered. Just remember, your imagination is your greatest asset!

Enchanted Engineering Using LEGO® Materials

Come join our fun and knowledgeable Play-Well instructors as we use LEGO® materials to build and interact with our favorite fairy tales! Help Cinderella make it back before midnight, fly with Peter Pan and the Lost Boys, and ensure Alice outwits the Queen of Hearts. Policies

MMA prioritizes the health and safety of your children, and follows CDC and Monterey County Health Department recommendations. Students will be required to wear a mask and follow 6-foot social distancing guidelines.

Age Policy: If a student turns the appropriate age by the end of August, they are eligible to join the camp. For example, a 4-year-old student turning 5 at the end of August can join a camp for 5 to 6-year-old students.

Refund Policy: Refunds can be issued if Monterey Museum of Art is notified at least 72 hours before the event begins. A 25% service charge will be assessed to each event cancellation. No refunds will be given for cancellations less than 72 hours before the event begins. Full refunds will be given if event is canceled by MMA. Camps may be canceled if there is low enrollment. You will be contacted within one week of the camp if this is the case.

Transfers can be made for classes: MMA will transfer your payment from one class to another class (of the same price) if the transfer request is received at least 72 hours before the class begins.
